I don't usually write "About Me" sections, mostly because I don't think there's all that much about me that's interesting. I guess I'll let you be the judge of that!
My name is Liz Woolf, and I have the distinction of being the only person in the universe who actually uses their real identity on the internet. My most commonly used handle in chat rooms and on message boards is "Liz" (and yes, that was really my name even before I started watching Roswell!), and on AIM I'm "Pirate Liz" (if you know why I use that, good for you, if you don't, please, don't ask). When you're a fan of Dawson's Creek everyone always wants to know how old you are, so I might as well tell you that I'm 28 years old.
I live in a little town in northern New Jersey that no one has ever heard of, and I'm abashed to admit that I do in fact live in my parents' basement. With any luck, that's a fairly temporary situation. In the real world (otherwise known as non-virtual reality) I'm a Systems Administrator for ADP 401(k). Yes, that's ADP the payroll company, and no, I can't do anything about the size of your paycheck.
I write. You probably figured that out by now. I don't know whether or not I actually write well, but I enjoy writing, so I do it. For the most part, I write for fun, but there is one place in the world that pays me to write for them, and I love them for it. (It also gives me a great excuse for why I still watch Dawson's Creek -- "because I get paid to"!) Aside from the fanfic and episode reviews, I also have been known to write the occasional essay, and I have a whole mess of poetry out on the 'net, most of which I wrote back in high school, some of which I actually still like.
And yes, I watch Dawson's Creek. For the most part, it's not even because I get paid to. Although it's not the same show it was back in its inaugural season -- and never will be again -- it's still a show that I love. I still care about the characters, and that's what keeps me coming back every week. It's also what keeps me writing fanfic about them.
Despite the fact that I'm far out of The WB's target demographic, I watch way too many of their shows. I even watched 7th Heaven, until Freaks and Geeks moved to Monday (nice choice, NBC!), and I finally could kick that habit. I also watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Roswell, and even Popular (I know that it's a bad show, but it's such a damn fun bad show!). I also defect from The WB for The West Wing, which really is the best show on television, as much as it pains me to ever agree with television critics.
In addition to watching too much television, I also own or work on too many web pages. There's this one (well, duh), my Jason Behr page, Behr Essentials, the Pacey/Jen site I own with Brandi, All Kinds of Cute, and Joey's Desktop (on a long and continuing hiatus). I spend entirely too much time at F@NFORUM, where I run Dawson's Creek Daily along with Mandy, and help out on Crashdown. I also am an administrator on the message boards, where I'm known as -- you guessed it! -- Liz.
People who know me in real life tend to think of my interests as falling into three distinctive categories: Dawson's Creek (you knew about that one already), figure skating, and Star Trek. I've been a tremendous fan of figure skating for over 12 years, and have been to many competitions, and met many of my favorite (and some not-so-favorite) skaters. At the top of that list is Kurt Browning, who is my absolute favorite skater, not to mention one of the nicest people I have ever met. I'm also a member of STARFLEET, the largest Star Trek fan association in the world. I've been in 'Fleet since 1992, and am currently the International Awards Director. It's not quite as scary and geeky as it sounds, really. I've made a lot of wonderful friends through both my skating fandom and my Trek fandom.
So, I don't know whether or not that was even remotely interesting, but it's done, so I'm happy! If you think of something else that you'd like to know that I didn't cover, just drop me a note and ask me.
